Altair is a global technology company providing software and cloud solutions in product development, high-performance computing and data intelligence. According to foreign media reports, sendyne will join the Altair partner alliance to provide cellmod virtual. In order to promote the development of global electric vehicle market and improve the performance of battery system, this is very important. Having accurate battery model is the starting point of designing battery pack, controlling and optimizing system. At present, the simple equivalent circuit model (EC) in common use lacks the ability of prediction and is unable to meet the relevant requirements. Using physical method to simulate integrated system is more accurate and faster than real-time system, which can significantly improve the design of battery system, optimize long-term performance and safety. Cellmod is the first lithium-ion virtual battery that can predict the behavior of battery and battery pack (including thermal behavior), and its accuracy is more than 97% under different test conditions. Cellmod uses complex electrochemical model and is packaged successfully to simulate cells. Through the open industrial standard function simulation interface, it can be easily integrated into most major simulation packages, such as Altair activate. Cellmod FMU receives input signals such as current, ambient temperature and time step, and outputs voltage, internal temperature of battery, surface temperature, system chip and other internal state variables of battery. In addition, cellmod can simulate the behavior of aging battery, and it can be scaled. Through sendyne's FMU basicpackmod, the battery can be combined in parallel and serial. Different from EC model, cellmod shows the physical process in the cell, including solid internal diffusion, diffusion in electrolyte solution, reaction power, charge transfer, heat transfer, etc. Therefore, cellmod can predict the battery behavior with high accuracy. "Sendyne has developed the first physical virtual lithium-ion battery model for real-time collaborative simulation," said Richard yen, senior vice president of Altair's global automotive and industry vertical markets team. Now, engineers can conduct virtual test on the battery pack in the model they design, including hardware and software cycle, thermal simulation, online battery prediction and other models. " The default battery model of cellmod is Panasonic ncr18650a, which is more accurate than the equivalent circuit model to replace the general lithium-ion battery. For design teams that need to achieve high accuracy (97% or statistical level), any specific version of lithium-ion battery and its iterative products, from NMC, LMO, LFP and NCA, can be quickly customized. Users of Altair HyperWorks can download cellmod FMU.
