Recently, electric America and hubject announced a simplified and convenient system for electric vehicle charging, called plug & charge. The system allows the electric vehicle driver to plug in the vehicle and the payment process will start automatically. The driver no longer needs to reach for his wallet, smartphone or bank card to pay for the charging fee. (photo source: Electric America) by providing the plug & charge solution in North America, drivers who use the electric America charging station can enjoy faster payment process certification and authorization services. The new system will be fully put into use in 2020, when electric vehicles compatible with the plug & charge system are expected to be launched. The system, which is operated by hubject company, is the key component to realize the "plug & charge" technology and to adopt ISO 15118 standard in the charging network of electrify America. This month, the two companies launched the system in North America through a signing process at U.S. bank in Santa Monica, California. ISO 15118 is an international standard, which outlines the secure communication protocol for EV and EV battery charging. It can simplify the charging function for the most popular type of EV charging connector (joint charging system, CCS). By increasing the number of end-to-end services (handled by the new system services), the launch of the new system will make it easier for EV owners to use public charging stations. The system uses the process and program developed by the cooperation with global security experts to realize the encrypted, convenient and fast plug & charge function in North America. Based on the mature European system of hubject, hubject North America V2G root and certificate authority is the first of its kind and the second in the world, which can encrypt the communication of seamless charging experience for customers in North America.
