A few days ago, a German company named innometric launched a car charger with an output power of up to 22KW. The charger uses an efficient silicon carbide module, which makes it have high output power, so as to shorten the charging time of the vehicle in AC mode. Innometric, a German company, and STMicroelectronics, another company, have jointly developed a new type of car charger, which uses an efficient silicon carbide module with an output power of 22KW and an input of three-phase alternating current. Recently, the company announced that it has started mass production of a new type of car charger. The first batch of vehicles equipped with the charger are scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2020, while the official automobile brand using the product has not been disclosed. The 22KW three-phase on-board charger has two different models, obc42 and obc82, which are respectively used for the electric drive system of two different voltage platforms, 400V and 800V. The output voltage of obc42 for 400V voltage platform is 210-510v, and the output current can reach 70A; the output voltage of obc82 for 800V voltage platform is 400-850v, and the output current can reach 45A. From its technical parameters, the use of new car charger will undoubtedly greatly shorten the charging time of pure electric vehicle in AC mode. For example, the battery capacity of the pure electric vehicle with the charger is 60kwh, and the charging time in AC mode may be shortened to about 3 hours.
