According to foreign media reports, Hyundai Mobis, a component subsidiary of the auto group, announced that it had developed a new safety technology that could protect the safety of passengers by interacting with sensors. The device is called "safety integrated control module", which can ensure the efficiency and safety when operating the vehicle safety device. (photo source: Modern Mobis official website) this technology combines two independent airbags and ECU (electronic control unit) of electronic safety belt into one device, and can receive real-time data of advanced radar sensor, so that passengers can get better protection under different driving conditions. In addition, modern Mobis has developed a technology that can optimize the configuration of safety devices such as airbags and electronic safety belts according to the position or movement of passengers. All the above technologies are jointly developed by Hyundai Mobis and Hyundai Automobile Company, and as the latest and most advanced technology, they have not been applied to the global automobile market. The goal of modern Mobis is to apply such technology to high-end cars in South Korea and mass produce such technology from 2021. Automobile safety devices can be roughly divided into two categories: active safety and passive safety devices. Active safety devices such as airbags can prevent accidents, while passive safety devices such as electronic safety belts can protect passengers when accidents happen. The "integrated control module of safety device" developed by morbis can only use one ECU to control active and passive safety devices, so as to maximize the efficiency of safety devices. With the help of external cameras and radar sensors, the module senses a dangerous situation, such as an obstacle on the road or a car suddenly stops in front of it, which will alert the passengers by activating and tightening the electronic safety belt. If a collision is predicted, the automatic emergency braking system will be activated, and the electronic safety belt will be adjusted to fix the passenger firmly on the seat. If the collision accident cannot be avoided, the module will deploy the pre tightening device and air bag according to the strength of the collision. In addition, morbis plans to develop technology to predict passenger position or movement in the process and optimize airbags by the end of this year. Based on the vehicle sensor data related to vehicle speed, the technology can estimate the passenger's position at the time of the accident, and deploy airbags according to the data, which will minimize the injury to passengers. Because the technology can control the deployment time and pressure of air bag according to the position and movement of passengers, even if an accident occurs, the air bag can be deployed in an optimal way.
