According to foreign media reports, Tata ELXSI (Tata ELXSI), a design and technical service company, and aeye, a pioneer of artificial perception in the United States, have successfully built a robot taxi. The robotaxi is a concept demonstration car independently developed by Tata ELXSI by using aeye's idar platform and Tata ELXSI's stack. (picture source: aeye) aeye's idar platform is the first intelligent sensor completely defined by software, which can provide support for dynamic ROI (region of interest) and sensor prompts, so as to improve the reliability of object detection and classification, at the same time, it can detect, classify and track objects in a wider range, so as to achieve safe and reliable automatic driving. Robotaxi of Tata ELXSI is based on its software middleware platform, autonomi. It integrates deep learning and AI functions to conceptualize robotaxi's functions. This function allows the user to take robotaxi from the current position to the selected destination by pressing a button on the screen. The fully automatic driving vehicle is equipped with AEye iDAR and sensor with high precision map and V2X information. It will encounter all kinds of driving situations, such as detecting traffic at intersection and ring road, and driving along the road. Tata ELXSI said it was responsible for integrating the idar into the vehicle, working with aeye on the autopilot stack, simulation, vehicle testing, and vehicle demonstration. Aeye said its system is unique and scalable for "on-demand autonomous driving" and can be used on any hardware such as low-cost ADAS, fully integrated 360 degree robotaxi functions. The company also recently announced that it is the first time to implement specific sensing functions on the edge of sensor networks. Tata ELXSI and aeye will present the robotaxi software framework at CES in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10, 2020 to help automakers accelerate the development of autonomous driving. AEye is the creator of the artificial perception pioneer and the perception system iDAR, and iDAR can act as the eye and visual cortex of the self driving car. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area, the company is supported by internationally renowned investors such as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Taiwan capital, Hella ventures, LG Electronics, Subaru SBI, Ericsson, Intel Capital and Airbus ventures.
