According to foreign media reports, Trelleborg sealing solutions in Sweden has launched two seals for electric vehicles - hispin PDR RT and hispin HS40. The above two seals can run at high speed, which helps the electric vehicle to reach the fuel vehicle level. Trelleborg is a manufacturer and supplier of precision seals, bearings and custom polymer components. (photo source: Trelleborg) according to the report of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2017, the number of electric vehicles in the world was 3.1 million. By 2030, this figure is expected to grow exponentially, reaching at least 125 million or even 220 million. But it depends on whether there's technology that will allow the car to charge once for all to reach the mileage of the car plus once for all, so that the drivers will be separated from the traditional car, and Trelleborg's two seals will help to achieve this goal. One of the main technologies of electric vehicles is the electric shaft, which combines the motor and is installed in the traditional position. The motor and gearbox are directly coupled, but in order to ensure the effective lubrication of the gearbox, it is essential to keep the motor dry, so a highly reliable seal is required between the two components. Paul Taylor, head of Trelleborg's product line, said: "due to the highest efficiency when the motor is running at high speed, the requirements for seals are very different from the input requirements for fuel engine vehicles. The normal speed of a gasoline engine is 2000 to 4000 rpm, while the speed of an electric transmission is usually 16000 rpm, which is eight times faster than the former, and the speed may increase significantly in the future. " At present, the speed limit of the traditional seal on the electric shaft of the electric vehicle is 30 m / s. In theory, the best speed of the electric shaft is more than 60m / s, which can maximize the efficiency, but at present, the speed can not be achieved. "Our goal is to increase the operating speed of the new electric seal to 40 m / s, which can be achieved by hispin HS40, and hispin PDR RT to 60 m / s," Taylor said Another problem to overcome is the lack of sufficient lubrication in the system. In the gearbox of electric drive system, the lubrication is very limited, which challenges the sealing. In this case, after the rotary seal stops operating for a period of time, it will be affected by high friction and high stick slip force, resulting in wear, shortening its service life and power loss, thus shortening the vehicle's endurance. A variety of lubricants in electric drive systems also pose challenges because not all sealing materials are compatible with them or work effectively with other media. In addition, when water-based, dielectric and low viscosity media are put into use, other unknown challenges may arise. However, hispin PDR RT and hispin HS40 are suitable for such applications. The two functions are the same. One can be selected according to the operation parameters and user preferences of the electric drive system. Hispin PDR RT consists of two parts: precision fabricated metal body and mechanically retained polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sealing elements, with customized lip sealing function to improve performance. The running speed can reach 60m / s or higher, it can work at high temperature and low temperature, it can bear pressure, it is generally compatible with chemical products, it has low friction coefficient, and it can run empty. Hispin HS40 has a unique two-way hydrodynamic lip seal function, with negligible friction at high speed, and the best static and dynamic sealing performance. It can run at a speed of up to 40 m / s, can also idle, and is easy to install.
