Recently, continental and 3M have established a partnership. The two sides will work together to develop a new I2V (infrastructure to vehicle) interface and optimize and upgrade the interface with vehicle infrastructure related objects. At present, the road infrastructure is lack of uniformity, and the performance and maintenance standards are not perfect. The new I2V interface jointly developed by continental and 3M company will play a very important role in vehicle perception and optimization. The two companies will use clear environmental landmarks to locate vehicles on high-precision maps to provide positioning and correction services. In urban road environment, I2V interface will identify and classify objects, including sidewalks, signal intersections, other static or moving objects in the city, so as to improve the safety of road traffic. In addition, the new interface will use sensor fusion technology to monitor infrastructure related objects to improve the system's object recognition ability. At this stage, the optimization of transportation infrastructure cannot be completed in a short time. The cooperation between the mainland and 3M has set a long-term goal, hoping to find a more balanced solution.
